Our Story in Home Care

Family-Led. Veteran-Owned. Compassion-Driven.

At ACCfamily, our story began in 1994 not as a business idea, but as a personal mission. Our family was searching for quality care for an aging loved one—and we couldn’t find it. What we saw was a gap between what families needed and what was available. So we did what families do when someone they love is in need—we stepped in. And from that moment, our commitment to dignified, dependable, and loving care was born.

Today, ACCfamily stands as a family-owned, veteran-led home care provider rooted in the same values that inspired our founding: love, service, and respect. We’ve walked in your shoes—and we know that when you're entrusting someone to care for your loved one, it must come from the heart.

A Legacy of Service, Sacrifice & Vision

Our Founder: Capt. Eugene “Red” McDaniel

Captain Eugene “Red” McDaniel is more than just our founder—he is the heartbeat behind our mission. A decorated U.S. Navy pilot and Vietnam War veteran, Red’s life was forever changed when he was shot down over North Vietnam during his 81st combat mission and held as a prisoner of war for six years in the infamous “Hanoi Hilton.” Enduring unimaginable conditions, Red emerged with unshakable faith, a servant’s heart, and an abiding respect for life and liberty.

Upon retiring from the Navy, Red’s commitment to service took a new form. He helped found ACCfamily with the conviction that all people—especially those who have sacrificed for their families and country—deserve to age with dignity and compassionate support. Today, Captain McDaniel remains involved in our vision—and, in a full-circle moment, he is also a client. His trust in our team affirms our purpose every day.

Our Core Values

At the center of our company are two guiding principles: love and service .

love, because caregiving starts with empathy and genuine concern for the well-being of others. And service, because to truly support someone, we must be willing to put their needs ahead of our own with excellence, humility, and commitment.

We apply these values equally—to everyone. Whether we’re caring for a high-profile policymaker in Washington, D.C. or a beloved grandmother in rural Virginia, our heart for quality care never changes. To us, each client is family.

Who We Are Today

ACCfamily is a tight-knit team of professionals, caregivers, and visionaries—many of us family, some by blood, others by bond. We continue to walk alongside families just like ours, offering clarity in uncertain moments, relief in overwhelming times, and most importantly, care that feels like home.

We proudly serve clients from every walk of life: decorated military veterans, congressional leaders, teachers, nurses, farmers, and parents. What unites them is not status—but the simple, profound need for dignity, connection, and support.

We’re always looking for individuals who feel called to serve with excellence. If you share our values and want to be part of a purpose-driven team, we invite you to learn more.

Virginia Roots. Community Care.

At ACCfamily, our roots run deep in Virginia. As a family- and veteran-owned company, we’ve spent over 30 years providing care that goes beyond routine tasks—offering connection, compassion, and commitment in every home we serve. "Family-Led. Heart-Centered. Virginia Strong." isn’t just a tagline—it reflects who we are, what we believe, and how we care for our community every day.

“The idea that started ACCfamily was simple: no one should have to carry the weight of caregiving alone. I’ve seen firsthand how heavy that burden can be—and how life-giving it is when families are free to just be family again.”
